 MISSION

As Mason County enters the next century, Mason Matters is committed to enhancing the health and quality of life of local residents through a concerted effort that includes all sectors of the community. Through Mason Matters, we will capitalize on the strengths of the community to take problems, take advantage of opportunities, and celebrate success.

VISION

We envision a community where each and every individual can proudly say

  • I live in Mason County in the 21st century.
  • I am a high school graduate and have enough education and training to work locally at a safe job that pays a living wage. Our county's diverse economy provides me with a satisfying job that enables me to support my family.
  • I am careful about my health. I exercise regularly, don't use drugs or smoke, and watch what I eat. I get regular medical and dental check-ups and obtain care when I need it.
  • I pay close attention to the well-being of my friends and family. I know that problems like mental illness, drug and alcohol abuse, domestic violence, and child abuse can happen to anyone.
  • I regularly volunteer my time, resources and skills. I want to make a difference in the lives of local children, youth, adults, and elders.
  • I care about our environment and participate in efforts to protect it. I am proud of the natural beauty of our area and take responsibility for maintaining it.
  • When I retire, I plan to stay in Mason County and remain an active member of the community. I hope that my children and grandchildren live here and that we all can enjoy the many benefits our community offers us.
